Namara Dafney - “Dr. Kegan’s Keynote - The Deliberately Developmental Organization”

In most organizations nearly everyone is doing a second job no one is paying them for—namely, covering their weaknesses, trying to look their best, and managing other people’s impressions of them. There may be no greater continuous waste of a company’s most precious resource—the time and attention of its people. The ultimate cost?: neither the organization nor its people are able to realize their full potential. What if an organization did everything in its power to create a culture in which everyone—not just select “high potentials”—could overcome their own internal barriers to change, using errors and vulnerabilities as prime opportunities for personal and company growth?

Sean Olson - "When Facts Don’t Change Minds: Coaching Strategies That Can Help"

This breakout was about how neuroscience instructs us on what is happening in the brain of our clients.  There are four key issues at play:

  1. Priming
  2. Amygdala Hijack
  3. Prediction Error
  4. Confirmation Bias

As a coach you can develop strategies to overcome these issues and help your client move to success.

Essie Richardson - “Coaching Across Cultures: Helping Leaders Lead Across Difference.”  As presented at conference by Rita Wuebbler

  1. Leaders with diverse backgrounds are increasingly being asked to lead across non-traditional borders - around the world and within their own organizations.
  2.  Leaders need to understand the main differences these coaching clients might represent or face in terms of key leadership issues.
  3. Help coaches make strong connections with clients from cultural backgrounds different from their own.
  4. Develop an awareness of culture on the coaching relationship.
