How do you handle it when a client’s logic doesn’t add up? Or when your own bias clouds your listening? This session provides a practical toolkit for identifying and navigating the cognitive biases and logical fallacies that get in the way of connection. In this session we utilize diverse client scenarios to simulate real-world coaching challenges. You learn to recognize these mental patterns and specific, ethical questioning techniques to help clients dismantle their own limiting beliefs. Doing so moves from “correcting” a client to helping them grow with new awareness. Join us to learn how to clear the fog and facilitate deeper growth.
This interactive workshop is designed to support our role as coaches and our personal development by establishing a shared language around the cognitive biases and logical fallacies that hinder connection and communication. By understanding these "mental blindspots," we can better navigate the space between coach and client, ensuring our presence is clean and our questions are impactful.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
1. Understand the landscape of logical fallacies and cognitive biases that impact both their clients and themselves.
2. Exposed to 48 named fallacies and biases grouped into families for easier identification and understanding.
3. Learn to recognize the presence of these fallacies and biases in themselves (for future reflection, perhaps with a coaching supervisor), and in their clients.
4. With respect to working with clients, participants will experience crafting judgement-free questions to help the client explore beyond their current thinking, either about themselves, their situations, or others.
