This presentation will help coaches to further develop their skills when working with their clients. Race is a hard and uncomfortable topic to talk about. We will look at the history of racism in our country and how it is systemic and operational at all levels of civic engagement and society. Understanding the power dynamics of systemic racism will help you navigate coaching relationships that have racial difference, and to comprehend and build compassion for the lived experience of BIPOC. (black, Indigenous and people of color)

Takeaways:

1. Develop critical thinking and compassionate care in dealing with racial difference in coaching.
2. Understand the impact of micro aggressions, code switching, and proving for BIPOC in the work environment.
3. Through understanding Systemic Racism, Systemic Oppression, to increase your awareness of power dynamics in the coaching relationship.
4. Build your tolerance to be in uncomfortable and necessary conversations about race.
5. To learn about common racial micro aggressions.
